Get Mobile
I built a handful of websites in 2023 through no-code solutions like Squarespace, Shopify, etc. The reason? I was testing some businesses with a limited budget and needed to create something. Going into these projects, I had zero expectations. Was this going to be super simple? Incredibly complicated?
The builds themselves were fairly straightforward. The complicated part was a choice as I learned more about plug-ins and overall site optimization. As I reflect on that journey, I learned an incredible amount by just “giving it a shot.”
In many cases, my career has been built on that mentality. Some gather opinions from their network and then feel comfortable talking about a particular subject. While that’s one side of the equation, I’ve always felt that actually getting into the weeds has allowed me to offer a much more valuable perspective, whether that’s on site building, TikTok Shop, or a plethora of other commerce tools or solutions.
Which brings me to today’s topic.
The one area that caused me some pain was how my sites were showing up on mobile. I went into these projects knowing that mobile commerce mattered, that I absolutely needed to build with a mobile shopper in mind. And yet, translating that effectively to my site buildouts left quite a bit to be desired. I’d make edits in one area, only to go back after realizing that it adversely affected another part of my site.
A lot of entrepreneurs say, “I had this problem, and I couldn’t find a solution, so I invented one!” It sounds a bit corny, like, “Of course you did.”
But here I was, with sites that were pretty good on desktop but “Meh” on mobile. First world problems.
Until I found Tapcart.
In a nutshell, Tapcart allows you to build a mobile app for your Shopify site (sorry, it’s for Shopify only as of today).
I won’t get into all the reasons why a mobile app is beneficial, but for the finance buffs, here are a few stats that matter:
*91% of all Shopify traffic comes through through mobile devices.
*Brands using a mobile app vs. mobile web have a 2.3x higher conversion rate.
*An app allows you to load your site faster, add mobile-friendly navigation, and include instant checkout. Put simply, anyone in this space knows that CAC’s are high. Doing everything you can to maximize conversion is a tip of the cap to your marketing team (and bottom line).
Related to conversion is loyalty, and I’m a big fan of email and sms. Prior to using Tapcart, I hadn’t thought much about app “pushes,” but I can now push messaging to fans of my brand for free, and the engagement is better than email and sms.
Now, core to this site is a mentality that “one size doesn’t fit all,” so I’m not saying this is perfect for every brand. But, in the spirit of growth, I’d run some numbers and think about how this could help you going into 2024. Every data point towards a mobile first strategy is there, and this is one of those areas where I feel like it’s worth it to be on the early side.
Cheers!
